Cloudelier

Swarovski Crystal Palace, 2009

Though it is hard to represent the vaporous outline of clouds, Coates comes close with his “Cloudelier”. When hung in groups, its gentle abstract form can make a cloud of any shape. With a new crystal stone exclusively designed by Coates, the Cloudelier’s four tiers blend naturally into one another. Two distinct low energy light sources animate the tightly packed crystal - a halogen lamp and an LED ring that combine to great effect.
